Coach's Welcome

Hello-

My name is Chris Milan and I have the privilege to be the volunteer head coach for your son on his U7 soccer team this fall. I'm looking forward to helping everyone grow their skills and have fun playing soccer. I can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at 615-457-0043 if you have any questions for me.

The first question most people have for me is "when is practice?". We will be having practice at the Thompson Station Road Park on Fridays from 5pm to 6pm. I will send out an email later this week to remind everyone as well.

Our first game will be the weekend of September 7th. We *should* also have our uniforms by then. I don't have a game schedule yet either, but I will pass it along as soon as I know the dates and times for our games this season so you can plan. Once we have the schedule, I will also need parents to take turns providing after-game snacks for the kids each week. Something simple like fruit snacks and a juice box will work.

For those that played U6 ball last year, the game format will be familiar. We take our team of 12 boys, split them into 2 squads and play 2 4v4 matches against another team's squads simultaneously. There will be a referee on the field this year but there are still no goalies and no score kept.

Since we will have 2 squads playing, I do need to ask you, the parents, for help. I need one or two volunteers to be my assistant coaches this year. The primary duty of an assistant coach will be to manage one of the squads during games since I can't be on both fields at the same time. I would also ask you to help out during practices when you can since that will help things go more smoothly. If you have any questions about volunteering, please call or email me. This does not have to be an every week commitment but I will have to conscript someone every game day if I don't get any volunteers.

Finally, if your child has any allergies (peanuts, glutens, etc) or medical issues (asthma, diabetes, etc) I should be aware of, please let me know so I can take any necessary precautions.

Looking forward to a great season,

Chris Milan
